Who we are: Drinking water is one of the most essential need of any living human organism. Due to the strong chemical taste, high level of impurity, and health concern, American consumers no longer consider tap water as a preferable drinking water source. American Aqueduct is a retail outlet that sells purified water products and services directly to American households and businesses via 3 and 5 gallon refillable bottle. Our goal is to make the highest quality drinking water available to the community at an affordable price. High quality drinking water is a consumer right, not a consumer privilege.
Advantages of refillable water: There are several advantages of buying water via refillable bottle: · Pricing: By volume, a five gallon bottle is about one and half case (24x16.9oz) of disposable drinking water bottles. On the average, a case and haft of water is about $7.00. You will save at least %50 by buying a five gallon from us. · Environmental factors: In addition to %50 money saving, every refill, you also save 36 disposable plastic bottles for the environment. · Quality Control issue: One of the biggest problem of buying water from pre-packaged bottle is that consumer does not know what is the exact quality of the water in the bottle. Recent news had raised many questions about the quality of the spring water industry. Our water is tested everyday and submitted to the PA DEP (Department Environmental Protection) weekly for testing. Our water is required daily to maintain at a very high level of purity (less than 10ppm). Since our water is dispensed on the spot, “what you see is what you get” from our water store. · Convenient self-service vending machine: Another feature of our water store is the 24 hours vending machine. Consumer with empty bottle can refill their bottle using our machine at anytime .
Purified vs. spring water: Two major differences between springwater and purified water are its source and its purity: · Springwater is derived from an underground formation from which water flows naturally to the surface of the earth. Springwater companies draw the source water via a well · Purified water is a product of the Reverse Osmosis filtration process using water from the municipal source. It is a known fact that the quality of purified water is significantly purer than springwater (below 10ppm vs. 20-100ppm). Springwater industry market their product by associating springwater with a inherit “natural” element that may have some intangible benefit. The problem with this claim is that there is no consistent quality control of the underground water source, which is dependent on many environmental factors. A point-in-time content test result is not an accurate reflection of the average content. The fact is that bottled water sold in the United States is not always filtered and not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water, according to a four-year scientific study recently made public by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) http://www.nrdc.org. The NRDC's study included testing of more than 1,000 bottles of
103 brands of bottled water. While most of the tested waters were found to be
of high quality, some brands were significantly contaminated. About one-third
of the waters tested contained levels of contamination including synthetic
organic chemicals, bacteria, and arsenic (at least one sample exceeded
allowable limits under either state or bottled water industry standards or
guidelines). Purified water is a “zero content” product with controllable factors. The goal is to produce a content-free pure water. Every stage of the process is designed to filter out a specific range of substance. The present of any foreign substance in the end product (pure water) represents a failed technical component which can be quickly corrected. What consumer will get is a very consistent quality of pure water with no additive.
Do we receive our mineral from drinking water? Minerals are essential for the basic functions of the human body to take place. They help to control bone growth, regulate fluids, normalize nerve and muscle functions, keep up metabolism, grow connective tissues, and so much more. However, a big misconception is that that we obtain minerals from our drinking water. This is actually not true because, in reality, the main source of minerals is always from our food and diets, not from our drinking water. Because in order to receive enough minerals for our body, we need to drink a bathtub amount of water everyday! Not very feasible. We are sure that your doctor will not prescribe you a "bathtub of water" if you are deficient in minerals, right? Therefore watch out for the water products which claims that they can take out ALL of the bad contaminants and leave you only the good stuff (healthy minerals) in the water. There is no real purification method that can be selective and leave you only the "good" stuff. When filters leave you the "good" stuff, they actually leave you "most" of the stuff in the water. "Most of the stuff" meaning besides calciums and magnesiums, they also leave you pesticites and most chemicals. In this era of pollution where water contains much more disease-causing contaminants than beneficial minerals, it makes sense that the water we drink should be as pure and clean as possible. |
